About Us

We're building powerful recruiting tools for the Mobile Generation.

The business was founded by professionals from the recruiting and tech fields - Ray Gibson from recruiting and HR, and Andrew Evans from the founding team at Careerbuilder.com.

While opportunities in recruiting tech are broad, the founders identified a specific stage in the recruiting process that was not being well-addressed by modern tools and where significant value could be added - pre-selection - where applicants are chosen for interviews or further assessment. Pre-selection is often the most time-consuming and therefore most expensive step. This is especially true for employers who collect hundreds or even thousands of candidate resumes or CVs, which often all look the same.

The company’s core products center around 15-second videos filmed by candidates on their own mobile phones and web browsers. This puts job applications firmly in the social media and mobile native arena, empowering job seekers to present themselves in their own way. In addition to reducing cost and time-to-hire, StartMonday brings massive employer branding opportunities to its clients.

In 2015, StartMonday graduated from Startupbootcamp, the prestigious European business accelerator program, with a working product and launching customers. Since then, the management team has continued to win more loyal customers (including citizenM hotels, RTL, Uber, and Intercontinental Hotels Group); processed thousands of 15-second videos and candidates; begun developing the feature set to better serve fast-growing employers; secured a technology partnership with IBM Watson; established a US trademark for “StartMonday” and acquired the startmonday.com domain; and generally prepared the business for massive scaling to thousands of clients.

In preparing to take the company public, Mike Thome was hired as an experienced CFO, and a Vancouver-based capital team was established to manage investor relations, brokers, compliance and processes related to the exchange and to plan longer-term financing of the business.
